Last Sunday there was a unique bloggers event for Paul’s Boutique in Amsterdam. Since I also got the amazing opportunity to have a one-on-one with Paul Slade, the designer and founder of Paul’s Boutique, I decided to head to Amsterdam with my girl Steph. Read all about the event and my Q&A with Paul Slade right now!
Together with my lovely friend Steph I headed off to Amsterdam for the Paul’s Boutique Style bloggers event. This exclusive event was held at the museum of bags and purses. A perfect place to host an event about, of course, handbags. I’ve been a fan of Paul’s Boutique for quite some time now, so I was super excited to receive an invitation for this event. (If you’ve not yet seen my beautiful Paul’s Boutique bag, you can fall in love here and here).
Upon arrival we we’re welcomed with some cava (the perfect welcome gift) and some nice tunes by Dj Poison Ivvy. After hearing some inspirational speeches we had some free time to discover the museum. There was also a room where you could get pampered with hair & make-up but we already looked stunning so we decided to go on the museum tour (read: it was a way too long queue for two impatient girls 😉 ). The host of the museum gave us a wonderful ànd interesting tour through the history of handbags. We saw some key pieces from the last decades and fell in love with more than one handbag!
And then there was the moment supreme: Paul’s Boutique gave us a sneak peek of the AW 2016 collection (which is gorgeous as always!) and revealed thé blogger bag of 2016 (which YOU can also shop here!). I absolutely adore the print of this cute backpack! I do not own any backpacks yet since I do not wear them often, but I’m sure I’ll find a nice outfit to go along with it and I promise I’ll show the result to you!
For me personally, the Q&A with Paul Slade was of course my highlight of the day. There were only 5 bloggers who got the chance to have a small chat with him and I felt honored to get this opportunity. We had only a short amount of time so I had prepared my favorite questions up front.
Where did you find inspiration for your newest collection?
Paul: “I mostly get inspired by interior design & architecture. Next to that, I also love to just encounter small details in my daily life and get a whole design out of it. Because I love interior design so much, we’ll be even focusing more on it in the future.”
What is your favorite Paul’s Boutique bag?
Paul: “I know which one is my absolute favorite, it’s an oversized leather shopper with black & green and some orange details. The bag has a bit of a worn touch to it. The bad thing is, I can’t seem to remember the name. “(at which point he hopes Roxanne while help him out 😉 It turned out to be the Keira Tote Bag in olive leather).
What is, according to you, thé perfect handbag?
Paul: “I would go for a backpack. It is easy to take along, you can put in as much as you’d like since it’s light to wear on your shoulders and it is really on trend at the moment!”
Which designers do you look up to most?
Paul: “I mainly look up to Céline, I love the style of the brand and of course their handbags. Next to that I am also crazy about COS, I just love their simplistic style and their great combinations.”
Can you tell me a funny story about Paul’s Boutique?
Paul: “Well, somewhere on the internet there’s a video of me and around 30 other employees of Paul’s Boutique dancing the Harlem shake. It’s a youtube video and I bet if you search hard enough you’ll find it somewhere.” (I tried to find it online but it was a mission impossible, if somebody finds it, let me know ;-)).
What are your future plans with Pauls Boutique?
Paul:”Well, I guess this is a bit of a headliner but we’re starting a new brand which will be more simplistic. Next to that, we’re also thinking about designing a new interior line. So Paul’s Boutique still has some big plans coming up, make sure to stay tuned!”
Thank you so much Paul’s Boutique for the invite!
